A meal that makes a real difference

When you’re scared and mistrustful, a meal and the chance to talk can make a world of difference.  Your gift of £10 can pay to take a young person out of their harmful environment to a café for a meal with a Barnardo’s support worker.

16 year old Aaliyah had suffered frightening sexual abuse at the hands of a family friend.  Her confidence and trust in the world had been shattered.

Taking young people like Aaliyah out for simple gifts of food and drink can show them that there are adults who care and want to help them leave their traumatic experiences behind them.  In the end this is so much more than just a meal, it’s the first taste of a positive future.
