Christmas can be one of the cruellest times for families on low income.  Carol, a single mother of three, had been homeless before she moved into her council house.  Repayments on loans were automatically taken off her bank account each month, leaving the family with practically nothing.  As Christmas came around she had no presents and no food for the children. Carol turned to Barnardo’s as a last resort.
