The start of a new life
Carl was only 16 when he became homeless. His mother had died 18 months previously and his father had found a new partner and then moved to a different part of the country. Carl ‘sofa-surfed’ at friend’s houses for a while, but eventually, there was nowhere for him to go. Vulnerable and hurting, he would have ended up on the streets had we not been able to help.
Your gift of £125 can provide safe and supported lodgings to vulnerable 16 – 21 years olds who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. We can provide shelter, food and a safe place to sleep for the night. From here we can move them to a carefully matched ‘host family’ and provide them with the opportunity to develop their skills and eventually live independently.
“I like living with my host family who are really caring. I have been helped by my project workers to think more clearly about my options… I feel more in charge of my life… I am less down now and feel like I am more myself again.” Carl
